4 of our all-time favorite Higher-Ed Halloween Trick or Tweets
It’s that magical time of year again when Pumpkins, ghosts, goblins and Elsa from Frozen costumes possess our social media feeds with an unyielding fervour.
This year we have decided to honor this most ghoulish of holidays by rounding up our all-time favorite Halloween campaigns from haunted university hallways around the globe.
So without further ado, settle back and prepare to hear some truly (well...moderately) terrifying tales:
University of Oxford: Ghosts of Oxford
This historic and most prestigious of universities has been giving their students cause for worry this week by posting a series of Facebook posts on the ghosts of Oxford. We love that this incorporates the history of the college and we would imagine students will be busy avoiding certain spots around campus for the foreseeable future. You can keep an eye on the series here.
University of Glasgow: #UOFGTrickorTweet
The University of Glasgow are old hands at Halloween and each year run a #UOFGTrickorTweet photo competition with a prize for the best costume. The stake is high with a giant jar of sweets as the coveted prize and understandably competition is fierce. You can check out the competitors at #UOFTrickorTweet
Radford University: Student Monsters
This first appeared in 2011 but it’s still one of our all-time favorites. Radford University swapped out all four of the student profiles on their admissions page with profiles of student ‘monsters’. Each monster had a video profile along with faculty and staff interviews. There was also a behind-the-scenes video showing the transformation of students into monsters. This is one serious commitment to Halloween and it’s a campaign that really paid off for Radford University.
Vassar College: Spooky Halloween homepage takeover
We have written about Vassar College’s Halloween homepage takeover’s before on this blog but we couldn’t fail to mention it! Each October 31st Vassar College’s homepage mysteriously gets taken over by ghosts and other creatures of the night. You can visit the graveyard of haunted homepage takeovers here and make sure to stop back to see what these masters of horror come up with for this Halloween!
If your university or college is doing something spooktacularly spectacular this Halloween, let us know and we will be happy to feature it!
