10 of the best 2017 University Welcome Days: Part 2
We all know first impressions are hard to shake and a student’s first impression of a college is no different. The first few weeks on campus can set the tone for the rest of their time there so it’s important to get it right. Incoming students need to be able to find the information and help they need as well as feel welcome and part of the college community.
In our last post we looked at Move In Days from University of Miami, University of Cincinnati, Connecticut College, Vanderbilt University and University of Portland. Today we’re bringing you our top five:
5. Babson College - Student Takeover
The new students are coming...! #Babson undergraduate peer mentors will be taking over the Babson College Instagram and Snapchat stories starting Friday throughout the weekend to give you a behind the scenes look at Orientation - one of the most exciting times of the year! This Babson pride is contagious. #BabsonOrientation #Babson2021 #GoBabo #LoveBabson
More and more universities are letting their students do the talking. Recognizing that they are their greatest ambassadors and their loudest voices. Babson College allowed their undergraduate peer mentors to take over the college Instagram and Snapchat stories for Move In and Orientation weekend- giving new students a look at behind the scenes.
4. University of Illinois at Urbana – Champagna: First Day of School
We love this nostalgic take on those first day of school photos, all four year olds are made to pose for. The University of Illinois took a pause to think of those parents suffering from empty-nest syndrome and got students to pose for a #firstdayofschool photo to send their parents!
3. Duke University – The President’s Welcome
This video from Duke University really captures the spirit on campus for Move In Day. It’s great to see students, faculty and staff getting involved.
2. University of Iowa – tagging along with new roomies
The University of Iowa created an article and video content about how two new sets of roommates were getting along. The university recognizes that friendships are one of the most important elements of university life and by interviewing new students, they hope to make the idea of living with a stranger less daunting.
1. University of Miami – One student’s journey
This video from the University of Miami is fantastic. It follows one student as he makes his way across the country to begin his freshman year.
