Whole websites, sections or individual content items within a website or Intranet can be password protected based on authentication and personalization mechanisms within TERMINALFOUR Site Manager. This is the perfect solution used to protect extranets, Intranets and membership areas of websites. It is even used to protect our own Extranet (extranet.terminalfour.com)!
You can have areas password protected or hidden from users based on personalization and access control rules. This means that users can only see information they are permitted to see. Rights are easily configured through the interface on a group or user level.
Users can be managed within the TERMINALFOUR Site Manager interface, you can integrate with third party SSO technology such as CAS, Shibboleth, OpenID/Facebook/Twitter or integrate with LDAP/Active Directory.
Additional optional features could also be implemented, such as the system reminding users of their passwords. We would also recommend implementing SSL encryption for password protected parts of the website.
For the more technical system administrator you can even us TERMINALFOUR Site Manager to manager your '.htaccess' files.
