TERMINALFOUR's Web Content Management System (WCMS) is being used by Derby City Council to deliver greater online services to citizens 24x7 and improve overall online communications. The Council plans to provide access to an increasing number of services online, enabling citizens to request information or make payments for services such as Council tax, adult learning fees, or pay fines, all at a time that suits them.
TERMINALFOUR, a leading web content management company, today announced that its web content management solution (WCM) is being used by Derby City Council to deliver greater online services to citizens 24x7 and improve overall online communications.
In line with its transformation programme, one Derby one council, Derby City Council wants to bring more services online to enable its citizens to easily book and pay for public services, apply for grants or gain access to community information, particularly during out-of-office hours. The Council implemented TERMINALFOUR Site Manager to enable them to create a dynamic, modern and accessible website that will provide a wealth of information and resources online to the general public.
The Council plans to provide 24 hour access to an increasing number of services online, enabling citizens to request information or make payments for services such as Council tax, adult learning fees, or pay fines, all at a time that suits them.
Taking payments or bookings for services through the website will enable the Council to remove administration overheads in line with current spending cuts. The cost to the Council of a customer enquiry face to face is £7.40 (€8.90); this reduces dramatically to 32p (€0.38) when carried out through the website. Some of these savings are being reallocated to other departments where funding is currently needed.
Furthermore, using TERMINALFOUR Site Manager, the Council has the ability to easily and quickly update information on the website using approved workflows and without the need for the IT department to get involved in content creation. The new website has become a valuable resource to the entire community of Derby.
Councillor Hickson, Leader of Derby City Council said, "Councils throughout the UK are facing increasing pressure to reduce what they spend while also being expected to continue and improve service delivery. While these are certainly difficult challenges, there is an opportunity for us to offer a greater citizen online experience than ever before."
Modern web content management solutions developed for local authorities, like TERMINALFOUR Site Manager, offer a powerful, flexible and dynamic online experience for everyone in Derby.
With TERMINALFOUR Site Manager's social media tie-ins Derby City Council is also looking to integrate more social media technologies to enhance communications with citizens particularly during emergencies. The integration of social media into its online activity will allow for a two-way conversation with citizens of all ages, as it aims to encourage them to become more involved and aware of local issues and local government.
Piero Tintori, CEO and founder of TERMINALFOUR, said, "Derby City Council wanted to create an interactive and purposeful website that would be an informative and transaction orientated resource for all stakeholders. Through innovation and imagination, the council has delivered a site that empowers all users and streamlines the delivery of public services while also reducing costs."
