TERMINALFOUR Completes Heritage Ireland Website

New content managed website offers information on almost 100 historical sites around Ireland. TERMINALFOUR Site Manager is now used across a wide range of Irish and international public body websites

TERMINALFOUR, Europe's fastest growing content management company, today announced the completion of a new website for Heritage Ireland.  The website, based on TERMINALFOUR Site Manager, provides detailed information about a huge range of Irish heritage sites from the Croppy Acre in Dublin to Skellig Michael in Kerry.  Locations, opening hours and special events are listed for almost one hundred sites of historical importance across Ireland.

The new website is targeted not just at Irish viewers, but also at foreign tourists visiting Ireland.  It will be published in eight languages, including French, German and Polish.  TERMINALFOUR Site Manager includes the capability to expand the number of languages, allowing Heritage Ireland to adjust the website as the source of foreign visitors changes over time.

An extensive mapping facility is included, allowing users to find heritage sites by geographic region, and to locate places of interest near to particular towns or areas they will be visiting.    The website also includes an extensive photo gallery of all the listed historical sites, drawn from the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government?s archives.  An extensive calendar shows where special events will be taking place, and can be filtered by region, county or specific venue.

Minister for State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Dr Martin Mansergh TD, said "The Heritage Ireland website is a hugely important resource for both foreign tourists and Irish residents with an interest in our country?s history.  The power of TERMINALFOUR's Site Manager means we were able to apply a heritage look and feel to what is a very modern website.  As someone with a keen interest in history and Irish heritage, I am particularly happy to report that the Heritage Ireland website has received more than 350,000 visitors in the last six months, and 66% of those were from overseas.  This shows that Ireland continues to grow as a venue for cultural tourism."

Piero Tintori, managing director of TERMINALFOUR, said "With the rise in use of the internet as a tool for tourists planning their holidays, the Heritage Ireland website will be a great addition for visitors to Ireland.  The technology being implemented here is typical of what we?ll see spreading further across the web over the coming years.  The new website gives contributors an extremely easy-to-use interface for keeping content constantly up to date.  TERMINALFOUR Site Manager is now in use across a wide range of public body websites in Ireland and abroad."
