LDAP & Active Directory Integration
Authentication Functionality
As well as using the system's own built-in authentication tool, Site Manager can authenticate users via Directory Services (such as NT Domain Controllers and Win 2000/2003 Active Directory, NDS, eDirectory, Open LDAP etc). This is done using a Java standard called JNDI, a driver protocol for Directory Services. Drivers are available for Active Directory, Open LDAP, Netware NDS/eDirectory and many others.
Directory services can be used within organisations for:
- authentication only
- defining user groups
- separate out broad user groupings
Site Manager also supports NTLM on a Windows network, allowing for full "Single Sign-on" functionality where end users do not need to enter a username and password, if they have already logged into a windows machine.
