TERMINALFOUR was established in 1997 by Piero Tintori, CEO & Founder. It was a period when the world was adopting the internet in droves and everyday human communication was undergoing a revolution. The company website was becoming ubiquitous; no longer only a brochure site, instead becoming a strategic marketing and business tool for organisations. Piero recognised that the management of web content would become one of the biggest online challenges for businesses worldwide, and so TERMINALFOUR was formed.
In the early days, TERMINALFOUR was exclusively a services company offering web consultation to a growing number of Government bodies, local councils and institutes of higher education. With a steadily growing client list and a burgeoning reputation within the web content management market in Ireland, we decided to take the next step. In 2001, our flagship Web Content Management (WCM) product was launched - TERMINALFOUR Site Manager. This was closely followed by our first handful of UK clients and the opening of our UK office.
From the early days of TERMINALFOUR Site Manager, continual investment in our product was our mantra. We knew that developing a product that was modern, open and jam-packed with features and functionality would put us ahead of the curve. This belief paid off. Within a few years, we had become the number one provider of web content management solutions to the Irish government and public sector and the number one provider of web content management solutions to Irish and UK higher education.
In 2008, after creating international interest in our product with new clients in Bahrain and Canada, we embarked on an ambitious internationalisation strategy. We announced details of a phased $4 million growth strategy over the next three years which would see us grow our team, accelerate our product development and fund our new market entry. Central to our plan was to enter the US market for the first time. We opened our US office in Boston with dedicated sales, support and implementation teams. We also rolled out a global partner and alliances program, extending our international reach.
At the beginning of 2010, we secured $2.3 million equity funding from NCB Ventures and AIB Seed Capital, with support from Enterprise Ireland. This investment enabled us to grow our Sales, R&D and Client Support teams. In addition, we invested $1.2 million back into the product and released TERMINALFOUR Site Manager 7.0. This version of our product represented the single biggest advancement in the technology, user-interface and functionality to date. In an era when our competitors stalled their investment in their products due to the economic downturn, we remained committed to delivering the most modern and feature rich WCM product in the world.
Our people are our greatest asset! We know this to be true. As a company we offer clients the collective intelligence, knowledge and experience of a diverse and progressive team of TERMINALFOUR employees and our international partner network. We are committed to employing people with a shared work ethic – professional, supportive and approachable. Since 2008, we have grown our team significantly and strengthened our executive and senior management team. We’ve launched our global partner programme which includes building our implementation and technology partner ecosystem to extend our reach.
By the end of 2010 we had broadened our international client base with new clients in Switzerland, France, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and the US market accounted for 40% of our new business revenues.
The web content market is growing and we plan to increase our market share in our carefully chosen sectors. Our goal is to continue our success in the future by honouring the ethos of the past i.e. invest in our product, listen to our clients and consistently surpass expectations.
Piero Tintori CEO & FounderIt's been an exciting and eventful journey for me, the company and the product. We've earned our place as one of the most modern and versatile web content management companies in the world, and we know that the best is still to come.
